🌞 Daytime Program (12 Weeks)
Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Format: Standard-paced, ideal for learners who prefer daytime hours and a weekly rhythm

Career Description: Sterile Processing Technicians work in health care organizations to prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and supplies used in the operating room and to care for patients in a variety of settings including hospitals, surgery centers, cosmetic surgery centers, ambulatory surgical sites, dental offices, and laboratories. Your job as a professional Central Services Tech will be crucial to the health and safety of every patient and healthcare worker. That is why the Central Sterile Processing department is referred to as, “the heart of the hospital”.
Career Outlook: The medical field is the fastest-growing sector in America, and it is projected to increase by at least 20% through the next 5 years. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of the Central Sterile Processing Technician is expected to grow nationally 14 % faster than the average, through 2024. Employment opportunities for central sterile processing technicians are expected to be excellent, due to increased needs within the health care industry and a larger and older population.
Work Attire: As a Sterile Processing Tech, you will be able to work in comfortable medical uniforms (scrubs) and non-skid shoes.
Average Salary and Wages: The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics states that the national average salary of a Central Service Technician is $25.34 per hour. However, wages vary greatly and are dependent on experience and facility.
Program Objective: This course prepares you to take the Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician exam offered by CBSPD. Passing candidates may use the title CSPDT – Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician.
Course Curriculum: Human Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, Infection Control, Decontamination, Sterilization,
Surgical Instrumentation Processing, Distribution, Complex Surgical Instruments, Medical Terminology, HIPAA privacy practices, and more!
Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- English Fluency (verbal and written)
- Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds and to reach overhead
- Must be able to attend all scheduled class time

Please be advised that a 3% processing fee is applied to charge card transactions. To avoid these fees, we happily accept cash, check or money orders.
Payment options:
Weekly Payment Plan: MHA also allows you to apply pre-arranged interest-free payments on your program.
Michigan Works: We are an approved training provider with Michigan Works. If you are currently unemployed,
you may be eligible to receive paid tuition and training costs through Michigan Works. Just contact the Michigan Works office
in your area and let them know that you are interested in taking the Central Sterile Processing Technician program at Michigan
Healthcare Academy. They will determine if you are eligible for tuition assistance.
Refund/Cancellation Policy
All class cancellations must be in writing and sent to registration@mihealthcareacademy.com. Only partial tuition costs are refundable for the Nurse Aide Training Program. If you need to cancel a program, for any reason, you will be issued the following tuition refund after the refund charge is applied:
20% 8-14 business days before class starts
30% 5-7 business days before class starts
50% 3-4 business days before class starts
NO REFUND 1-2 business day before class and thereafter
*Costs associated with registration fees, textbooks, and school patches are non-refundable.
